In April 2019, Matt snuck out of Wenatchee and got on a plane to northwest Iowa for a quick weekend trip to ask Molly's dad for permission to marry her. A few weeks later while Molly was attending a friend's wedding in Iowa, Matt once again snuck out of Wenatchee and had Molly's ring designed. Shortly after that, he became somewhat insistent that Molly needed to keep the first Sunday in June open, as the wildflowers would be killer at Lake Caroline (the location of their first hike). Molly finally obliged to Matt's eagerness to hike to Lake Caroline. When they arrived at the trailhead on the day of the proposal, Matt was completely stricken with anxiety, but still had 3000 vertical feet of hiking before him. About 90% of the way up, Matt asked their friend Debbie if she could get a photo of Molly and him. Molly abruptly declined because she wanted to get a photo at a different location. Matt then powered through another 300 vertical feet to a spot where they had taken a photo only a year before. Despite being nearly crippled with anxiety, Matt turned to Debbie and asked if she could take a photo of Molly and him. Molly then insisted that Matt get a photo of her and Debbie first, but eventually agreed to a photo with Matt. With Mount Stuart and The Enchantments as their background, Matt began telling Molly about the many ways she makes him happy and makes him a better person. "What are you doing?!” Molly curiously chuckled. At that moment, Matt got down on one knee and asked Molly to marry him. After nearly blacking out from fluid depletion and excitement, Molly eagerly agreed to Matt's proposal!

On September 26, 2020, Matt and Molly were married in an intimate ceremony at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Wenatchee, WA. They are looking forward to celebrating their marriage with everyone on Ocotber 2nd!
