Mehndi and Pithi are traditional pre-wedding celebrations in many South Asian weddings. Traditionally, they are held as separate events on different days. The Mehndi ceremony centers around henna designs applied to the bride and guest, while the Pithi ceremony involves family and friends applying a turmeric-based paste to the bride and groom as a blessing for happiness, prosperity, and a glowing start to married life. For our wedding, we're combining these two beautiful traditions into one joyful celebration! Guests can expect an evening filled with henna, music, laughter, colorful attire, and the opportunity to take part in the Pithi festivities.
The Mehndi & Pithi Ceremony is a colorful and festive celebration, so we encourage guests to wear bright, vibrant colors! Traditional Indian woman attire, such as a lehenga, saree, salwar kameez, or kurta, — men’s attire, such as, sherwani or kurta with dress pants is always welcome and encouraged if you'd like to embrace the spirit of the occasion. If you don't have Indian clothing, don't worry—colorful cocktail dresses, formal sundresses, or other festive attire are perfectly acceptable. For men, button downs are a great option! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and ready to celebrate with us.
