We met at UC Santa Cruz in 2010, and have been together since the fall of 2011. These last nine years have been an incredible journey!
After graduating from UCSC in 2012, we traveled for several years around the Western United States, Central America, and New Zealand. We spent our time natural building, farming, backpacking, homesteading, rafting, skiing, and working in festival production.
In 2018 we moved back to the Santa Cruz area.
We currently live in a beautiful cottage in the redwoods with our cat Leonard. A trail meanders from our backyard, through the forest, to the San Lorenzo River. Ryan works at Orchard Keepers, where he manages a 10 acre apricot orchard and loves caring for fruit trees. Skyla works at Central Coast Wilds, a native plant nursery. Working there has reignited her love for botany and natural history.
We plan to move back to El Dorado County in the winter of 2021 to work on the family farm and start our own orchard care business.
Hummingbird Ridge Farm
For the last few years, we've managed the family walnut orchard in Somerset, CA. The property is 52 acres, with 18 acres of dry-farmed, organic English walnuts. To learn more, click the link below.
