We always say God’s timing is perfect, and the way we met proves it. Back then, I was working as the Personal Training Director at LA Fitness, and Trevor was just a guy who came in to work out… and honestly, I didn’t pay him any attention at first. Months went by, and every now and then we’d have these tiny conversations at the front desk. Nothing crazy — just little moments, joking around, bonding over the same TikTok humor, and slowly getting more comfortable talking every day. One morning, my mom came to work out with me, and Trevor walked in wearing a Raeford skydiving shirt. My mom noticed it right away and started asking him questions — and that’s when we found out he had lived in the same tiny town we were from. Not only that… he lived right down the street from us for three years. In a town as small as Raeford, that felt like more than a coincidence. It felt special — like we were meant to cross paths eventually. At the time though, Trevor was still in a relationship and wasn’t happy. Being the friend I am, I supported him through figuring out what was right for him — never with the intention of dating him. We didn’t start hanging out, talking more, or anything like that until much later. Once he was single, we naturally gravitated toward each other. We’d talk more at the gym, laugh at the exact same TikToks, bond over the fact that our favorite Monster flavor is the same (the blue one, obviously), and just realize how many random little things we had in common. It took me forever to start texting him back consistently — which I now know was so dumb, because I could’ve had more time with him sooner. But again… God’s timing. Eventually, we decided to hang out “just as friends” at Tacos 4 Life. We planned for something simple, nothing serious — but we ended up sitting there for 4 hours talking, laughing, and not wanting the night to end. I think we both realized that day that maybe it wasn’t just a friendship after all. Fast forward almost two years later… he brought me back to the place where it all began. Not on the same day, not the same week — but in the same exact spot where we had our first “friend date,” Trevor asked me to marry him. And it was the sweetest full-circle.
