Our Story

If you asked Skylar...

I guess you could say that our story started back in 2016 when I began working as a barista at Starbucks. He spent SEVERAL nights there every week studying and working - seriously he was there probably more than I was! It didn’t take very long for me to notice him. Of course, there was unspoken chemistry - I always thought he was cute and kind, but at some point I started questioning why he was there so often. After a while, I had a feeling he wasn’t just there for the coffee or studying (though I made sure it was made perfect every time lol) There was a few times where business was slow late at night, and I’d make excuses to bring him free pastries or coffee, and other times when I’d go on my breaks and interrupt his study sessions which he never seemed to mind. We never said anything, and it was always casual and friendly, but in the back of my mind I knew that he was different. I’ll never forget one of my old coworkers saying ā€œyou know, if you ever find yourself in a different place in life, I could see the both of you ending up together.ā€ In September of 2020, Brandon sent the first message over Facebook asking me about life - how I’d been, what I was up to, and all of the small talk questions. Of course, we talked all night and, naturally playing hard to get, we both completely ignored each other the next day. On September 24th of 2020, I finally caved and messaged him and we have been inseparable from that day forward. Since then, Brandon and I have shared many adventures and memories together. From trips to Florida and Vegas, to treasured dates at our favorite Indian restaurant, to spending late nights watching our favorite TV shows - it is never a dull moment. He has, without a doubt, been my biggest supporter over these last few years as I’ve journeyed into my nursing career. There were many weeks where we saw very little of each other - balancing work, life, family, and friends proved to be difficult, but his unwavering love and support has been nothing but incredible. All of this to say, there is not a soul on this Earth that could measure up to him, and I am more than grateful, and lucky, to spend my life by his side šŸ’—

Our Story

If you asked Brandon...

I first met Skybutt in 2016 at Starbucks, where I spent nearly every evening studying after class. At first, it was just a convenient spot to get work done, but it didn’t take long for me to notice the cute, kind barista behind the counter. Most importantly, she seemed to have a habit of ā€œaccidentallyā€ giving me free coffee. Even after I graduated a couple years later, I kept finding reasons to go back to her Starbucks. Sure, I still had a few licensing exams to study for, but let’s be honest—I was really just there for the free lattes. Finally, after countless chats during her breaks and far too much caffeine, I built up the courage to slide into her DMs in the fall of 2020. We talked for hours, and then (because she knows that she's way out of my league) she promptly ghosted me for a day. But the conversation picked right back up when she finally took pity on me, and I've somehow managed to keep her around every day since. At the start of our relationship, we were both going through incredibly challenging times. But through it all, Skylar was my anchor—her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love felt limitless. She’s also one of the most hardworking people I’ve ever known, balancing 4am Starbucks shifts, 12-hour hospital days, and brutal nursing exams—all while still making time to shower her friends and family with affection. Since then, we’ve shared some incredible experiences: hiking through Zion National Park, too many music festivals to count, and finally, in sunny Southern California, where I asked her if she wanted to keep putting up with my nonsense forever. Looking back, I can’t believe how lucky I was to walk into that Starbucks all those years ago. She is absolutely my favorite person in the world, and I can’t wait to start this next chapter of our lives together šŸ’œ
