One Dance Was All It Took

A bold hello, a saved dance, and a forever we didn’t see coming

We met November 30, 2018 at a Latin Dance night at a local club in Charlotte, NC. I was out celebrating my birthday and Sam was out supposed to meet up with friends. I had tried unsuccessfully to get a member of my group to ask him to dance, but just before Sam left, I walked up to him at the bar and complemented his glasses. He thought it was weird that I would complement a random stranger but not too weird because he asked me to save him a dance. He asked me out on a date for the next day (which he showed up 20 minutes late to) and we ended the night at Amelies Bakery talking until it closed. Now seven years and two cats later, we can't wait to celebrate our wedding day with you. We are the epitome of opposites who bring out the best in each other: Sam is from Venezuela and I was born in New Jersey Sam works in Tech and I work in Senior Living Sam loves Computers and I love books Sam LOVES coffee and I prefer tea Sam likes Superhero and Action movies and I like Historical and Horror movies Sam loves warm weather and my ideal temp is 68

Right Where We Belong

No crowd. No spotlight. Just us—and a forever yes.

We went out to dinner for our 6th anniversary. I suspected the proposal was coming because he'd changed his amazon password and expressly told me to stay out of his stuff (he's never done that). Dinner was mostly normal, but he started to get a bit antsy at the end and the car ride home was a bit awkward. When we got home he asked me to sit down because he needed to say some things and wanted my full attention. He then read a planned speech off his phone, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him right there in our living room. He said he wanted to do it at dinner but got nervous and thought it would be more meaningful at home. He was right and it was perfect.
