Happy Days Lodge is named for the theme song of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal political platform, “Happy Days Are Here Again.” The building was constructed in 1938-39 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The architecture of Happy Days speaks to its history and provides a unique atmosphere for events. The CCC subscribed to rustic “parkitecture” design developed by the National Park Service in the early 1900s. This style emphasizes horizontal lines, low silhouettes and choices of color and materials found in the local surroundings. Happy Days is constructed of wormy chestnut, wood from the American chestnut trees killed by the early 20th-century blight that devastated this once-common tree. The sandstone floor and fireplace, made from locally quarried sandstone, complement the wood.
Parking is across State Route 303. The Lodge is accessible by a pedestrian tunnel that goes under the state route. Parking behind the Lodge is for disabled parking and drop-off.
Only the ring bearer/flower girl and infants will be allowed to attend. We apologize for any inconvenience our decision may cause.
The dress code for our wedding is fall casual. The ceremony will occur in the Lodge's unheated screened-in porch, which will have plexiglass panels installed in mid-October. The reception will take place in the Great Hall, which is heated and features a large fireplace. Average late October temperatures range from highs in the mid-60s to lows in the mid-30s
