We're Getting Married!

Kathleen and Stephen met through a friend of a friend of a friend. It all started with a failed attempt at "Sunday Dinners" with their college roommates. She was sitting with her friend on the couch and Stephen with his. Being the social butterfly that he is, Stephen attempted to strike up a conversation with Kathleen. "So, where are you from?”, Stephen asked. It was one question too many for a girl of few words. Spoiler alert: This is not where the story ends.

Kathleen and Stephen were two good friends! But these "friends" somehow always gravitated towards each other, especially on the dance floor. Stephen even became Kathleen's "Designated Dance Partner." After all he was a good guy, good dancer and did the dishes... YES, DID THE DISHES. (Still does to this day!) Fast forward to the Summer of 2013. Kathleen started seeing more of Stephen's great qualities - Kept up with the dishes, cleaned, and most importantly made her laugh! Stephen was officially out of the Friend Zone.

Kathleen accepted an internship in Charlotte for the Fall semester they both knew she couldn't turn down. They were just in the beginning stages of dating and were unsure about what would happen. Long distance was not their thing so they both agreed to “see what happens”. What had happen was they both decided they weren't going to see other people. Kathleen made frequent trips to Tallahassee on weekends she was free. After all it was her senior year and she HAD to see their Championship team in person! Oh, and Stephen. On November 22, 2013 they became Facebook Official!

After Stephen graduated in the spring of 2014 they packed up their things and moved to Dallas! Stephen landed his first job out of college and there was no way Kathleen was staying in Florida - Long distance...not their thing. In their first year in Dallas they survived sleeping on a couch for three months, a stolen car, and moving in together! Four years later they still tolerate each other.

It was the perfect Saturday morning - they got their workout in for the day, the sun was out and Kanye West's new album was on repeat. Earlier in the week, Stephen set up brunch with his sisters at the Dallas Arboretum...at 9:30am... Kathleen asked the usual questions - Which cafe are we going to? Why so early? Are you sure you don't want to change the time? Kathleen and Stephen arrive at the Arboretum and they're "early" - very rare for them as a couple! After wandering around the gardens they find a bench to sit on in the McCasland Sunken Garden. *Backstory* Leading up to this moment Stephen took it upon himself to jokingly propose to Kathleen in public settings. The last time he did this was in Time Square! Fast forward to that Saturday on the bench, Kathleen sarcastically says to him, "What? Are you gonna propose to me now?" She gets up from the bench laughing and feeling proud of herself for beating him to his own joke! All of a sudden Kathleen feels Stephen grab her hand and sees him on one knee. She thinks to herself "Wow, he's really taking this joke a little too far." The next thing she knows she's staring at a ring! THE RING!!! After making sure this wasn't another one of Stephen's jokes Kathleen said "YES!”
