How we met...

January 27th, 2014

We met at Estacada High School in 2014. We got stuck together in the class for kids who were bad at math or didn't pass the standardized test that year. The class started out with about twenty people, but towards the end of the semester it got narrowed down to about five students, including the two of us. I could have taken the test again at any time that semester, but I kept putting it off so that I could spend more time with the cute boy that sat in front of me. Curtis and I developed such a deep and well rounded friendship almost instantly. I thought Curtis was goofy because he would cook bacon on a barbecue in the back of his truck during lunch and bring it to me with an Arizona Green Tea, (my favorite). We both were very liked by the teacher and she would send us on errands throughout the school and allow us to watch videos and talk about dirt bikes and trucks, (Curtis' favorite). The last week of the class, we both took our tests and passed. Curtis graduated later that year. We both went to the same youth group and church, so we got to see each other every Wednesday and Sunday. The timing wasn't right for us to be together at that time, but thankfully God's timing is better than our own. Curtis asked me to be his girlfriend on May 12th, 2015. Curtis took me to my senior prom that year and we were dressed in camouflage. It seems like just yesterday that we met in that boring classroom, but since that day, we have shared more memories and laughs than we can even imagine. I found my high school sweetheart my junior year and I don't even remember what my life was like before him. I knew the moment I met Curtis that he was the man I had been praying for my whole life and he would become my husband someday.

Engagement

December 26th, 2016

Curtis and I had been wanting to visit Leavenworth, Washington all year. We kept trying to make it happen, but it seemed as if the timing and budget never quite worked. However, the day after Christmas, Curtis told me he was taking me to Cabela's to look at new sweatshirts, which was pretty normal for us, (we went all the time). We got in the car and left, except Curtis wasn't taking the right roads to get there. I thought he was lost, as usual, until he told me that he was taking me to go see some Christmas lights. I was thrilled!! I soon found out where we were going, and after a many hot chocolate stops, a few trips to the gas station, and a 7 hour drive, we made it to the most beautiful winter wonderland we had ever seen! The snow was deep, the lights were bright, and the excitement was growing. We had dinner at an Italian restaurant, or at least we tried to. It was the only restaurant open, but we got seated immediately and placed our order. We waited, and waited, and waited for our food.... The couple next to us seemed to be having the same problem and they told us they had been there for three hours waiting. The family to the right of us said they had been waiting for six hours! We decided to ask for the check for our drinks and move on to see the lights, as did the couple next to us. We never got dinner, but we ate goldfish crackers that we found in my car and that was good enough for us. Curtis seemed so nervous and weird the whole time we were there, and I thought he was sick or something. We walked the whole town and took lots of pictures. I mentioned that we should hit the road because it was late. Curtis said he just wanted to look at one more set of lights, and as he said that, it started snowing again. I turned to laugh at some people that slipped down an icy hill, and when I turned back around, he was down on one knee.
