Kurt and Skipper met on August 11, 2011 through mutual friends at a reggae concert at Meadowbrook in Gilford, NH. Although it was their first time meeting, they hit it off immediately and spent the entire concert dancing and talking, exchanging numbers at the end of the night before heading their separate ways. Their relationship started off slow as Kurt was living with friends in downtown Meredith at the time and Skipper still with her parents in Hopkinton, MA. Things started getting serious between them the fall of 2012 when Skipper moved into her apartment in Boston. On December 9, 2012 Kurt asked Skipper to be his girlfriend and the rest is history! As Skipper was both working and just starting nursing school, things in her life were very busy but Kurt made sure not to let work and school get in between them. Kurt held true to his promise to make the 2-hour drive to visit her a few times a week, often leaving Boston at 4 AM to make it back to New Hampshire in time for his work day. Skipper would spend school breaks and weekends in Meredith, studying for exams at a local coffee shop while Kurt was busy at work. In May 2014, a job opportunity opened up for Kurt in Reading, MA and he packed up his things and moved to Boston. Kurt and Skipper were thrilled to finally live just 2 miles away from eachother after years of long distance!
Fast forward another 4.5 years and Kurt and Skipper had just settled into their first apartment in Boston. The first weekend in December has always been special to them as it is both Kurt’s birthday (December 8) and their “official” dating anniversary (December 9). They would typically go away together somewhere in New England to celebrate, and this year they decided they would head up to Stowe, VT to check out some breweries. On Saturday morning Kurt was very eager to give Skipper her anniversary present. It was a wooden box filled with cards, ticket stubs and memorabelia from everything they had done together over the past seven years of dating. Skipper spent her time reading through everything, mind blown by the fact Kurt had managed to save all these things without her realizing, and after she went through the box Kurt was on his knee with a piece of paper that said “Will you marry me?” It was the easiest question Skipper has ever had to answer!! When looking at venues for their wedding, it only made sense to pick Church Landing, located just steps away from the place Kurt first told Skipper he loved her (Guiseppe’s), their first date spot (Phu Jee) and a few streets away from Kurt’s first apartment where their relationship took off. It also just so happened that one of the only weekends still available happened to be the first weekend in December, which will make it special for the rest of their lives! Kurt and Skipper can’t wait to celebrate their wedding (and Kurt’s 30th birthday !!!!) with their closest friends and family on December 7, 2019!
