After a Stickball tournament in San Jose we went to a bar in Downtown San Jose. While waiting in line to get another drink I noticed a girl sitting alone at a table near the bar who clearly wasn't having the best time. A friend and I went over to see if we could cheer her up. After multiple failed attempts we were finally able to convince her to at least talk to us. She explained to us that she had a very long day, had just gotten off work and was dragged down to San Jose by a friend who wanted to see a guy playing in the band at the bar. The bar we were at was closing so we were able to talk Sierra and Emily into going to another bar. After getting to the second bar we decided that everyone was hungry and that even though Sierra was ready to go home we were able to persuade her to stay with Taco Bell. While at Taco Bell Sierra told me about her dog Blu and that she needed to find someone to watch him while she attended a wedding the following weekend. Knowing that this would be a good way to continue talking to her I immediately volunteered to watch him. After leaving Taco Bell I was still to nervous to ask Sierra for her number so I volunteered to give them a ride to their car so I could buy more time. As the I was getting ready to drop them off I was still to nervous to ask Sierra for her number and then out of no where as she was getting out of my truck she turns around and says "So are you watching my dog next weekend or..." and I answered "yes me and him are going to be best friends what's your number?"
A real being in the right place, at the right time kind of story. I was living in Oakland, Brian in Petaluma. One week one of my girl friends asked me to go with her to San Jose to see a band perform, she was dating the singer at the time and I agreed to go. I had worked all week and been working at my second job both Saturday and Sunday, I had regretted agreeing to go and be designated driver but I was a good wing women and headed down to SP2. The fire department had a stickball tournament that day right around the corner, after it was over they all headed into SP2. When we arrived and I was of course being my social awkward self, sitting alone drinking a diet coke texting my mom (lol), annoyed and my phone was dying. My friend is very social so she ended up meeting a fire fighter and was on the dance floor, we where there for a while maybe an hour or so. When a friend of Brian came up and started talking to me, I was slightly annoyed my girl friend left me, slightly jealous she was so social so I wasn't the most friendly. But after a bit Brian walked over and sat across from me, he immediately caught my eye. After a night of talking, walking around SJ, and finally getting some Taco Bell, I showed him my dog. Instantly he fell in love, and wanted to watch him any time. Which just so happened I was going out of town, I had a girl friend already watching him but of course I asked Bri if he was around. At the end of the night he gave us a ride to our car, it was freezing! As I was leaving, he still hadn't taken my number or given his, so I said "Do you really want to watch my dog?" And a beautiful love story was born, between my fiancé and my dog, oh and me of course.
Our first big vacation, that we had to reschedule three timed due to covid, we where finally in Hawaii! After days of laying in the sun and hanging out with his parents, Brian wanted to go to dinner just the two of us. He was very sneaky and made the reservations the night before, throwing off the scent of having this planned for months. We had actually be to the same restaurant on a previous night with his parents for dinner and when we went to the bathroom, his parents told the wait staff it was happening Friday! We where about an hour early for our reservation at Browns in the Fairmont, we walked down to the beach and sat together, just watching the ocean and talking. When it was time to go, Brian said we better start walking, I had turned around to grab my cardigan and when I looked back he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and there where tears. His parents had followed behind us, after telling me their dinner plans to go to Macaroni Grill, again throwing off the scent, she hid behind a palm tree to get some amazing photos of the best moment of our lives.
