We met when my college roommate started dating a fellow from Reuben's unit (this couple is now happily married!) and while Reuben claims that he was instantly smitten, I was, shall we say, less than convinced. Reuben tried unsuccessfully to pursue me for over a year before I finally gave him a chance. And it was easy, wonderful, and everything I had ever dreamed of. So, here we are today, three dogs, two moves, and one teenager later, ready to tie the knot and spend our days together. I guess he wasn't so unsuccessful after all!
Reuben surprised me with a date night to The Melting Pot in downtown Minneapolis, a restaurant I had been begging to try for months. In my excitement, I shrugged off Reuben's unusual behavior and insistence on clutching his jacket in his arms all through dinner. As long as this didn't get in the way of me and cheese fondue, why should I care? I did start to get suspicious when I noticed his appetite wasn't as voracious as normal though... Halfway through dinner, he asked me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. I refused, thinking he was going to put food in my hands, but instead found a cute stuffed animal (inside joke). Then, he pulled out the ring and, in his nervousness, asked me to marry him but forgot to get down on one knee. As happy and stunned as I was I couldn't let this oversight slip, so I refused to give him an answer until he climbed over me and got down on one knee beside the table. And, satisfied and crying happy tears, I said, "Yes!" with all my heart. So, here we are! Ready to celebrate the official joining of our lives together with you, our friends and family, there to support us. We can't wait to see you!
