How we met

01/26/2020

Siobhán and her maid of honor, Kristina, had gone out to explore their new hometown of Astoria one Sunday. They had hopped around a couple bars after brunch, and ended up at their local bar, the Astoria Tavern. Siobhán had always said she would meet a good guy when she moved to Astoria, but she didn't expect to meet her future husband after a month of living there. She was definitely wrong. Thanks to the bartender that night, Colmán's credit card ended up behind the bar. As he went to retrieve it, Siobhán boldly asked "Who are you?" He responded "I'm Colmán, who are you?" With that, the conversation began. As they bonded over their hatred of minivans, their mutual Claddagh rings, and their matching fades over the a's in their names, they ended up talking for over four hours. The rest was history. Who knew you could meet someone in a bar anymore, huh?

Our First Date

01/28/2020

Colmán made a reservation at Lillie's Victorian Establishment in Times Square for his and Siobhán's first date. He even picked Siobhán up from her job at the hospital to escort her to the location, which she thought was very sweet. They enjoyed a wonderful dinner and on their way back to the subway, they were stopped by a man selling comedy tickets. After a conversation that seemed like it would never end, Siobhán grabbed Colmán's arm to get them out of the situation. She had really wanted to hold his hand the whole night, and this was a perfect excuse. After their date, there was no question in either of their minds that they had found something special.

Our Engagement

4/28/21

Colmán and Siobhán's maid of honor, Kristina, had been planning the proposal for months. Siobhán was convinced that Colmán was going to propose in San Diego, and that is exactly why he didn't propose there. He wanted to surprise Siobhán, and he did just that! The morning of April 28th, they flew from Texas (where they had been for Siobhán's cousin Christine's wedding) to Los Angeles. They picked up their rental car, grabbed some breakfast, and met Kristina at her apartment. She had a plan for the whole day, ending with seeing the sunset in Santa Monica and going to eat at Del Frisco's (where she and Siobhán had originally met)! The plan sounded so much like a day in the life of Kristina and Siobhán, that Siobhán didn't even think anything of it, until they were getting ready for dinner. At one point, she semi-jokingly put on Colmán's button down to potentially wear to dinner, and immediately was told to put on something else-by both Colmán and Kristina. She thought that was a little weird, but still didn't really have a clue that anything was going to happen. When they arrived at the Santa Monica Pier, the sun was starting to set. Originally, they were supposed to watch the sunset on the beach-except no one knew how to get onto the beach. Finally, Colmán found a set of stairs, but they had to walk under the pier to see the sunset. Siobhan teasingly said they were going to get murdered under the pier, but Colmán just NEEDED to see the sunset. That's when Siobhán knew that something was up. When they got to the right spot on the beach to see the sun go down, Kristina started taking pictures of the two of them, and Siobhán could feel Colmán's heart racing. And then, he was down on one knee. To this day, neither of them can remember what Colmán said, but we all know that Siobhán said yes. Then, the entire pier started cheering, Kristina started crying, and Colmán and Siobhán couldn't stop smiling. They were getting married, and they couldn't wait!
