We're collecting preliminary RSVPs now. Go to the RSVP tab to let us know if you're likely to attend or not - this will help us with planning! Formal invitations will be sent out later where we'll request your final RSVP - likely sometime in early 2026.
The sooner the better! Summer is a popular time to visit Portugal, so we recommend locking in your flights and accommodations as early as you can - ideally 8-10 months out.
No, you don’t need a visa - just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your travel dates!
We love your little ones, but to allow all our guests (including parents!) a night of relaxation, we’re planning an adults-only celebration. We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Late June in Sintra is usually warm and sunny during the day - think mid 70s to low 80s. It can get a little cooler in the evenings, especially up in the hills where the venue is, so we suggest bringing a light layer just in case. Overall, it’s a beautiful time of year to be in Portugal!
We plan to host the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner outside if the weather cooperates. When it's time to dance, we'll move inside!
Instead of a traditional registry, we’ve set up a honeymoon fund. If you'd like to contribute, you can find the details on the Registry page -https://www.zola.com/wedding/sintrawiththesokos/registry.
💶 Currency & Payments - Portugal uses the Euro (€). You can get Euros from your local bank or AAA before you leave! - Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s a good idea to carry some cash for small purchases, taxis, or tips - especially in smaller towns like Sintra. - You can withdraw Euros from ATMs when you arrive (choose the option to be charged in Euros - it usually gets you the best exchange rate). 📱 Cell Phones & Data - If you want to stay connected, check with your carrier about international plans. Some offer daily roaming passes (like AT&T’s International Day Pass or Verizon TravelPass). - You can also buy a local SIM card at the airport or in Lisbon - or use an eSIM if your phone supports it. - Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, restaurants, and cafes. 🔌 Outlets & Power Converters - Portugal uses Type C and F plugs (the round two-pin kind), and the voltage is 230V. - Bring a European power adapter (not just a converter) to charge your devices. If you’re bringing anything like a hairdryer or straightener, double-check if it’s dual voltage. 🚕 Transportation Tips - Uber and Bolt (a local ride share app) are very accessible and affordable! - Public transportation like trains, trams, and buses are easy to use. - If you're renting a car, note that streets in Portugal are SUPER narrow and parking is limited, especially near tourist spots. 🍽 Tipping Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s appreciated. 💧 Water - Tap water is safe to drink in Portugal, so feel free to bring a reusable water bottle! 🕰 Time Zone - Portugal is in the Western European Time Zone (WET), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time (EST).
