Jon and Emma first met the way many people do these days: on a dating app. In fact, they were recommended to each other as their most compatible match, and two years later, they can confidently say that yes... Hinge might have been right about that. After a riveting conversation about Emma’s unfortunate night owl habit of accidentally setting alarms in her calculator app and, unsurprisingly, their shared love of reading, the two decided to meet for their first date at Chickie’s & Pete’s at Parx Casino. There, they bonded over a plate of crab fries and talked about everything from time travel to Jon’s upbringing in Tennessee and Emma’s public library horror stories. Before they knew it, the date had ended, and they both realized they wanted to see each other again. Five dates later, they made it official. Over the years, Emma and Jon have enjoyed getting to know each other’s friends, families, and loved ones; starting a book club focused on classics and nonfiction; moving in together and building a home in Philadelphia; attending the Eagles Super Bowl parade and celebrating their victory over the Chiefs on Broad Street; becoming a killer bar trivia duo; hiking (mostly against Emma’s will); seeing live performances; and traveling together to Scotland, Canada, and beyond. On April 11, 2026, Jon popped the question beneath a beautiful canopy of cherry blossoms during golden hour in Fairmount Park, and Emma said yes to spending a lifetime with her best friend and the love of her life.
