Head Of The Metolius
A fun, short hike down a paved path to the the rushing headwaters of the Metolius river. A healthy population of chipmunks makes for added entertainment. One mile round trip and semi-shaded.
Black Butte Ranch
Parking across from the Black Butte Ranch Disc Golf Course offers lots of options for activities! There's a big sports park with soccer field, sand volleyball, disc golf, tennis courts, and miles of paved bike trails to explore. A few hundred feet down the road there is the Big Meadow Golf course, Robert's Pub restaurant, a driving range and putt-putt course.
West Metolius River Trail
The trail leaves from Lower Canyon Creek Campground along the west bank of the Metolius River, about 10 minutes from the venue. Park cars at Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and the campground and complete a one-way 2.5 mile jaunt, or make it a full out and back 5 miler. A Scenic, flat trail that follows the river.
Float the River
This is an easy, mellow, 2 mile float that mos. Beware: the water is definitely chilly! Start the float with your floatie at Allen Springs Campground (website address linked). Park another car at Lower Bridge Campground 2 miles further down the main road (Forest Service 14) where you will takeout. The takeout is on the right side of the bank as you approach the bridge. Don't go past the bridge crossing the river!
