We met 10 years ago at a Model UN conference where we were supposed to be solving world issues- but instead we were too busy out-debating each other. We were fiercely competitive right from the moment we met- complete with eye-rolls, stubborn arguments, and one very smug ‘highly commended’ winner (it was Paulius). We challenged each other on everything from global policies to who is smarter (obviously Simran). Over the years our debates never really stopped. We argued, laughed, and pushed each other to be our best. The competition softened into understanding, and our strong rivalry turned into friendship and a connection that had us always finding our way back to each other. Before we realised it we had fallen in love- it was steady, effortless, and felt like home. A decade has passed since we met and our debates stopped being about winning and our competition turned to partnership. Years of growing together, standing by each other’s side, and choosing each other even when times were tough, we know now that this love was inevitable. When you find someone who can challenge you but also make you feel completely understood it is a truly beautiful thing- and it deserves to be celebrated with your closest friends and family.
