We met in Dr. Clark's analytical chemistry class at Capital University in 2011. Zack was an outgoing senior and Carly was a bright-eyed freshman. Our school was small and being both environmental science majors we ran into each other quite frequently. Study sessions turned into lunch meet ups which eventually turned into roof jumping and exploring Capital's hidden 4th floor of the science center. Weekends were spent mucking about in Hocking Hills, Ohio, and we grew closer by the moment. All seemed lost after Zack graduated and returned back to Michigan. Until one day he called Carly out of the blue and asked her if she wanted to visit. The rest is history.
One crisp early autumn weekend, Zack convinced Carly to wake up early and jump on the first ferry to Michigan's prized Mackinac Island. Knowing Carly's love of the outdoors, geology, and the Great Lakes, Zack took Carly up a winding trail behind Fort Mackinac that popped out at the picturesque limestone arch lookout point. While Carly was taking in the beauty of the fresh morning Zack quickly dropped to one knee and waited for Carly to turn around. She obviously said yes or you lot wouldn't be here...
