How We Met

2012

Simone and PJ's brother Chris were coworkers and regularly went to lunch together. On one particular day, Chris invited PJ to join them for lunch. They soon realized that they lived cattycorner to each other in Downtown Dallas (Simone could practically see into PJ's place from across the street)! They started to explore downtown activities together and their love story unfolded over the years. Thanks for the unexpected introduction, Chris!

The Proposal

NYE 2019

PJ arranged for an intimate dinner together at Meddlesome Moth for New Year's Eve, a restaurant they spent their first New Year's Eve together 8 years prior. PJ feels that the New Year's Eve 8 years ago is when they really cemented their relationship, as they spent it with each other's friends. Before they ordered their food, PJ surprised Simone by getting on one knee and asking her to marry him! It seemed like everyone in the restaurant stopped and stared, waiting for her reaction. Despite feeling like she was in a dream, Simone happily said YES! They spent the rest of the evening celebrating with some of PJ's family.

The House (and location of the wedding)

2021

PJ & Simone bought their first home together in the Munger Place neighborhood in Dallas. The market was extremely hot and with the help of their sister-in-law & agent, Heather, they got their dream home! Here's the description of the home as one of the five featured homes in this year's Munger Place Wine Walk: "As might be expected of one of the oldest homes in Munger Place (circa 1905), this home comes with many stories. Before it was even built, the first owners apparently came out to picnic and plant the now-massive pecan tree (named "Success") that dominates the backyard. A towering crape myrtle and a grand gardenia have also lent company to the house for many, many years. When the small, backyard pond was dug and fitted decades ago, it set off a trend in the neighborhood that continues to this day. It’s a frequent refrain that homes in the neighborhood were split and reconfigured as boarding houses; one of the boarders here reportedly wrote the old-time classic “Home on the Range.” Once it was a single-family home again, renovations included adding on a back porch, enclosing that porch, adding a porch beyond that, and enclosing that one, as well. More recently, the home received the 2004 Preservation Achievement Award. The newest owners have been in the three-bedroom house less than a year and are forming plans to finish out a third floor."
