Her Side: One night in March 2012, my friend, Elka needed to replace her laptop that died while we were studying. As Elka was negotiating the terms of her new laptop purchase, I wandered the aisles of BestBuy. Unbeknownst to me, an associate was checking me out. He asked if I needed help. After I explained that I was being moral support, he said, "you're not from around here, are you?" I smiled and responded, "what was your first clue?" He said that I didn't dress like the local ladies, and I was OK with that lol. After a chat, he asked for my number. I agreed and waited for him to whip out his phone. That didn't happen, so I asked if he was going to memorize my number or write it down. He said his phone was in the back and then ran for #PenAndPaper to take my number. His Side: As they would say every story has two sides. I was working that night in March 2012. I happened to be out on the floor that night, because usually I stayed in the warehouse mostly. So, the operations manager asked me to step out on the floor to greet customer's to help out. I was walking down a few aisles in the computer section and there was this young woman browsing on the network aisle. I walked over and said " Evening ma'am, do you need any help?" She responded, "no just waiting on my friend." I said okay at first and then noticed her attire and I said, "You not from around here." She acknowledged and we conversed for a few minutes then, I asked her for her number. She said, okay and we shared an awkward momentum because I'd left my phone in the warehouse. So, she was like" Are you gonna write it down or put it in your phone?" I said, "Hold up a sec", then I went and grabbed my friend's #PenAndPaper2012.
Simone and Jamario reconnected in March 2018. They dated long distance for a while and had discussions of making a lasting commitment to each other. Simone was ready to leave Miami and Jamario was ready to have her closer to him. One weekend in October (October 17, 2020, to be exact), Jamario surprised Simone with a visit to "help her pack" for her move out of Miami. The night of his arrival, they went to dinner at his favorite restaurant in town. Jamario watched a football game playing on the TV as they ate their meal. Simone enjoyed her meal and few bites of his. As the meal was coming to an end, Jamario ordered one last mimosa for each of them. Simone didn't think anything of it because she didn't enjoy the drink she originally ordered and remarked to Jamario "I should've ordered a mimosa like you!" Jamario put his arm around her and tapped her shoulder. When Simone looked at her tapped shoulder, she saw Jamario's hand holding an open ring box. In shock, she turned to look at him and asked, "what's happening?" She looked back at his hand holding the ring and he whispered, "will you marry me?" Simone replied "yes." They kissed to seal the deal. Jamario and Simone agreed that the uncertainty of the time we're living in would prevent them from having the wedding that they want. However, these times will not stop their union, and so they are set to "Weds2021" at the courthouse in Montgomery, AL.
