On 12 September 2017, María arrived in Leeds to start her Erasmus year. On 15 September, she met Simon. Apparently, good things also come to those who don't wait! María and Simon went on their first trip together in June 2018; they went to Paris and visited the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur, and so on, as well as Disneyland! Whilst María was finishing her degree in Málaga, Simon was starting his PhD. He came to visit her every month or month and a half without fail. In September 2019, María moved to Leeds with Simon, and a few months later, they spent both lockdowns together. In 2023, they took their first trip outside Europe together – to South Africa! And in 2024, they visited Vietnam. They are the best travel companions. In September 2024, six years after their first trip, they returned to Paris. Simon got down on one knee at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and proposed to María. She, of course, said yes! In February 2025, they bought a house together. It’s been a hectic year of moving house, home improvements, new jobs and wedding plans – but they couldn’t be happier! On 9 October 2026, they’ll say ‘I do’ in front of the people who mean the most to them. Best of all? They’d love for you to be there. Will you join them?
