Just an hour away from Kayleigh's hometown is the vibrant city of New Orleans! Take a stroll down through the French Quarter, eat at Cafe du Monde, and take in the history of this beautiful city! Located an hour away from Biloxi, is Kayleigh's college town of Mobile, Alabama. This is the birthplace of Mardi Gras - yes, you heard me correct, New Orleans is not the original hometown of our beloved holiday! Take a stroll down Dauphin Street and fall into a few various pubs, bars, and local eats! Kayleigh's Favorite Places: 1. O'Dalys - fun fact! This bar is one of Simon's favorites too after the first few visits and we have had many fun times here. 2. Brick Yard on Dauphin Street - featuring live late night music and an underground vibe 3. Las Floriditas - think Cuba meets old, historical bank vault! This Cuban inspired bar/club even comes with a password to enter...shhh! (Check out their instagram for the password)
The next town over, Ocean Springs, MS is full of indoor/outdoor restaurants, unique gift shops, local artists museums, and bars. Mostly located on Government Street, here are a few of Kayleigh and Simon's places to visit! Eats: 1. Glory Bound Gyro Co. - great food and drinks on tap, also features live music on weekends with indoor/outdoor seating. 2. The Lady May - with a more trendy, modern feel be sure to check them out as a good brunch spot! Ask for their homemade biscuits and jams! Museums 1. Walter Anderson Museum - Walter Anderson was born in New Orleans and lived on the coast his entire life in the early 1900s. You will almost certainly find a piece of his artwork and/or drawings in almost every locals home here!
