How did this awesome event come about?

Jessie and Simon met upon the great battlefields of Eastern Turgelistikikan. Jessie ran an orphanage for blind, deaf, and emotionally unstable orphans, while Simon wandered the wilds in copious amounts of flannel surviving with only a multitool made out of a repurposed butter knife. Jessie was kind of enough to shelter Simon after a particularly brutal subzero-degree night that threatened three of his remaining 7 toes. He was immediately taken with her warmth and grace in dealing with her young charges and determined that she would be the one to tame his flannel clad heart. After several notable adventures including but not limited to Jessie’s bare-handed strangling of the terror of the countryside, el Chupacabra Eastern European edition, and Simon’s brilliant conquering of the village’s clogged communal toilet they confirmed their feelings for each other and planned to be wed. All of Eastern Turgelistikikan rejoiced, and the war was ended out of the sheer positivity and joy resulting from their union. Nobel peace prizes to be forthcoming. In reality, they worked together at Trinity Episcopal church as the children’s and youth directors for a year and a half while remaining willfully ignorant of their growing feelings for each other. Everyone around them has felt great glee in pointing out that they’ve “seen it coming from the beginning.” Sure they did…
