We're getting married!

It all began in the software engineering lab of Covenant University where dreams were forged and lifelong connections were made. I had just embarked on my master’s journey, filled with ambition and excitement for the opportunities ahead. My days were packed with classes and late-night study sessions. Meanwhile, my future spouse was beginning a new chapter as well, starting his PhD program in the same university and was also a faculty member of the same university. He was deeply engrossed in research, with his mind often occupied by complex theories and academic pursuits. Though our academic paths were different, the universe had its way of aligning them. Our first meeting was nothing short of serendipitous. It was during a department organized meet and greet where students from the department were brought together to meet with the faculty members and other students. I remember walking into the room and scanning for a seat. We all introduced each other and because I needed a mentor who would guide me throughout the program, I felt he would be the best person as he was a PhD student. What began as polite conversation about the topic at hand quickly turned into an engaging discussion about our academic interests, life goals, and shared dreams. From that day on, we found ourselves crossing paths more often. Whether it was at the lab, a campus event, or seminar, our conversations grew deeper and more meaningful. We bonded over our shared love for learning, our aspirations, and our determination to make a difference in the world. As the months passed, our friendship blossomed into something more profound. Late-night study sessions turned into dinner dates, and soon, we realized that we were each other’s greatest supporters. The challenges of academia were made lighter by having someone to share them with, and the victories felt even sweeter. Looking back, it feels like fate brought us together at the perfect time. The university was not just the place where we pursued our academic dreams, it became the foundation of a love story that continues to grow every day. Today, as we reflect on those early days, we’re grateful for the chance encounter that changed our lives forever.
