We met through mutual friends while I was home for winter break from East Carolina University. We went to La Fog Atas, played board games in Mashoes, and I even caught my hair on fire during his New Year's Eve party. He saved the whole back of my head from being bald. I should've known then he'd always be taking care of me! Fast forward a year, I came home one weekend during my senior year of college. We decided to get together to catch up. What we thought would be casual drinks at Lone Cedar turned into us dancing the night away at Kelly's (RIP). We've been inseparable ever since!
During our annual week's stay at John's family's beach cottage in Nags Head, we woke up to watch a GORGEOUS sunrise with our dogs. In the midst of talking about life and love, John asked me to marry him. It was the happiest moment of my life, knowing we would spend the rest of our lives together. John made me wait until 6:15 to facetime family, but as soon as I did, they came over and had champagne on the porch with us. Our best friends from heaven, Mariah and Danuel, showed up as dolphins that were jumping completely out of the water all day long. We continued to celebrate with friends and family all week long at the beach. Perfection it was.
