Paris (about 2.5 hrs by TER + TGV) *TER-Transport Express Regional, TGV-Train à Grande Vitesse Loire Valley castles (Saumur, Azay-Le-Rideau, Amboise, Chambord, Chenonceau, etc). This requires a car. Great food and wine along the way. Jade coast south of the estuary (Pornic, St Brevin, Prefailles, Moutiers-en-Retz, La Bernerie). Huge beaches or rocky coves, it's all there. But it gets busy in August so reserve early Coast north of the estuary: Le Croisic, Piriac, Mesquer, Penestin. Less touristy except for Penestin South coast of Brittany (Golfe du Morbihan, Vannes, Auray, Quiberon). Beautiful but also busy in August Normandy coast (D-Day beaches, Caen memorial https://www.memorial-caen.fr/, Honfleur, Deauville). This is a bit farther (3h drive from Ancenis).
