Yosemite is about an hour and a half from Oakdale. If you have extra time on your trip, this is a great place to visit. The couple loves to visit Yosemite and has been on many dates here. Check the park website before making the drive to make sure conditions are clear and to see if reservations are necessary.

Woodward Reservoir Park

Check out the museum and learn a little more about Oakdale. The museum is located on the same street as the hotel options so this is a nice close option for something to do.
