Sierra and Drey met while attending North Dakota State University in Fargo, where they had overlapping friend groups but never got to know each other too well. That changed when they both ended up separately moving to Arizona, with Sierra being the first to make the move in the summer of 2017. Shortly after, she caught wind of Drey also planning to make the move, and she messaged him to ask about meeting up when he arrived. For their first date, they attended a roller derby event. Drey picked Sierra up from her apartment, and they got supper, then headed to the derby. Afterward, they wanted to keep it rolling, and (not too surprisingly) spent the rest of the night bar hopping. It wasn’t until the next day that it dawned on them that, being new to the area, they had no idea where they had decided to leave Drey’s car behind. They proceeded to spend the next 3 days together, walking through parking garages until they eventually found it, creating a bit of a trauma bond over their despair that they had lost a whole vehicle. And what a bond it was, because here they are today!
