A girl from Jersey. A guy from Oklahoma. We lived in completely different parts of the country and somehow the stars aligned to allow us to meet in Rome, Italy. We met that first week studying abroad (Brendan was wearing his fisherman's hat and Sierra was most likely wearing some form of flare). We were officially introduced when I offered Brendan a piece of gum. From then on we knew that every single day together would be an adventure.
We road tripped out to Oklahoma to visit Brendan's family for Thanksgiving. That Friday after spending the morning with family, Brendan took me to Turkey Mountain (hiking trails we visited on my first trip to OK) to show me "tribal markings" made on a certain cliff there. We trekked back through the trail to where we reached the cliff that read "Sierra Climb". I looked at him coyly and smiled, but did as the rock told me to do. Once we reached the top, I noticed a basket of beautiful flowers, sunflowers laid on the ground (for my grandmother) and a small box at the edge of the cliff containing the ring. I immediately started crying and smiling... and crying some more. He asks me, I say yes, and we celebrate later that night with mexican food and drinks with his family.
