In a hole in the ground there was a party. It was a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with sweaty college students and an oozy smell, with a round metal support post dotting the space: it was a Renwood Apartment basement kind of hole, and that meant a punk show. A brown-haired cutie with a charming smile was up front by the band with several other energetic party goers, while a dreadlocked-hippie chick and her farmhouse roommate were bopping around farther back on the dance floor, taking in the scene for the first time. As the angst grew from the band, so did the moshing in the crowd. And then – thunk! Someone went down. Sienna hurried over to find the kid leaning against one of the posts laughing and holding his head, while Eddy went hurrying off with a wink. Eddy returned a moment later with a bag of frozen peas for the kid's head and a beer for his spirits. Sienna took off the bracelet she was wearing and gave it to Eddy, thanking him for his kindness, secretly hoping he would remember her........ Sienna and Eddy didn’t start dating until years later when the universe brought them back together in Willimantic, Connecticut in 2016. They fell in love in the romantic New England mill town, frequenting the Willimantic Brewery, planting gardens on High Street, and acting in the haunted house at the Textile Museum. Oh yeah, and you can’t forget the Frog Bridge and the fact that they were only 15 minutes from UConn where they both went to school.
On the cold December night of the 2020 Winter Solstice, Eddy met Sienna in the driveway as she pulled in, home from work. With snow shoes on, binoculars in hand, and a pack full of goodies on his back, he greeted her in the driveway ready to walk out into the night to see The Great Conjunction. It had been cloudy for days, but the clouds had just broken and they were hoping to see the planetary alignment of the Earth with Jupiter and Saturn, a phenomenon that only happens once in a lifetime-if you’re lucky. Sienna strapped on her snow shoes, and they trekked out east across the snowy field.
