Sienna and Jon met in January 2016 on Hinge. Or, as Jon liked to say, “in Boston” through “mutual friends”. Sienna had to cut through the nonsense of Jon asking about her clinical research and favorite sports to get them to go on a date. Jon showed up soaking wet from biking in the rain, and Sienna figured he wasn’t interested when he declined to order a second drink. He simply wanted to save money, and she got her money’s worth by ordering another one. Jon continued to seem like he was trying to sabotage their fledgling relationship, from bringing Sienna to an eating contest where he ate 35 habanero peppers to giving an unbelievable Scattergories answer for “Things you replace starting with the letter G” while with her family and close friends. But Jon’s foibles were no match for the bond the two built with each other and each other’s families. Over the next 6 years, they navigated 2 grad school admissions, 1 residency match, and less than 500 square feet of apartment space to build a life together. On the first weekend in April 2022, Sienna and Jon took a trip to Wellfleet together. This was Sienna’s only free weekend in a several month span. And her friend had just brought her to a manicure. And she and Jon had looked at engagement rings together. So when he suddenly got emotional on Friday night, there wasn’t much of a surprise left. But her brother made that certain on Saturday by inadvertently texting their family group chat a picture with their other sister who lives out-of-state. Jon dutifully soldiered on to suggest they go on a walk overlooking the water, and Sienna magnanimously humored him by making small talk. The many hints did nothing to spoil the proposal, as Sienna and Jon were overjoyed to signify their love for and commitment to each other. They returned from their walk to celebrate with (most of) their immediate families. And they are so excited to celebrate this next step with all of you.
