Josh and Rachel met, while out with friends, in February 2017 at Harrisons. Josh asked Rachel to play him in a game of pool, and after talking all evening decided to ask her on a date. The day of the "first date" Josh had twisted his ankle playing basketball and could barely walk. Luckily his roommate went to the restaurant to pick up the sushi they were having for dinner. Rachel doesn't consider this to be a date since they were unable to actually go out, and claims their "first date" was when they went to the Blue Jackets game the following week, the debate continues to this day. Since then Josh & Rachel have enjoyed attending multiple sporting events around Columbus, traveling all over the country for weddings, taking care of their 2 year old golden retriever Mika (Mee-kuh) & traveling all over the world for vacation. Especially their trip to Costa Rica in November of 2021 where Josh asked Rachel to marry him. The proposal went like any, with lots of unexpected circumstances. The plan was to go hiking in a part of the rainforest with suspension bridges gradually getting higher throughout the forest. At one point there is a lookout area with a beautiful view of the volcano & valley below. The days that we were in that part of the country were VERY cloudy and you couldn't see anything in the rainforest or higher than halfway up the volcano, so Josh had to improvise once we left the rainforest area for the beach. We spent the next day lounging by the pool and rented a jet ski just before sunset. The sting rays were jumping all around us on the water and we watched the sunset before returning to our room where the staff had set up a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries & macarons. Josh took Rachel out on the balcony with the ocean & disappearing sun in the background and asked her to be his wife.
