On July 1st, John moved from Pittsburgh to Liverpool, NY for his job at Graybar. Two weeks later I moved into my uncle's lake house in Jordan, NY to start a new job in Baldwinsville. A few months later, we matched on a dating app! After a few messages back and forth, John asked me out for a drink at "The Retreat", a local Liverpool restaurant, and we met in person for the first time. After just one drink, we both knew there was a connection!

After a few months of dating, we decided it would be fun to take a trip together for the new year. We chose Ottawa because we had both never been there, it was only about a 3 hour drive from my parents house, and we had heard that it was beautiful and fun during the holiday season. We had lots of fun adventures: sight seeing, breweries, pool halls, a spa day, ice skating, skiing, and a new years party at our hotel!

On March 17th, my job transitioned to work from home, and a day later John's did too. We decided that we would quarantine together in John's two bedroom apartment. What we thought was going to be two weeks turned into months of spending every second of every day with each other, falling in love.

In July, my parents completed their 3 year project of building a new home in Manlius NY. With lots of extra space, my parents invited us to live with them. On July 18th, we moved out of the Liverpool apartment and into the new home. We enjoyed two years of family dinners, card games, and countless celebrations in this house with my family.

On Friday May 28th, John and I had the house to ourselves as my family was out of town for the weekend. I got home from work to a quiet, dark, and empty house. I took off my coat and shoes, and when I turned to walk down the hallway, there was a table with candles, roses, bath gifts, and champagne! I walked closer to the table, and John came up behind me, got down on one knee, and proposed. We celebrated with a nice dinner at our favorite local restaurant, Scenic Root.
