So we met on a dating app. She was super shifty. Only responding to me when she dared felt like it....Of course, I played it cool. I was patient and thoughtful. I responded in kind. Finally, she gives me her number to get in touch with her. She told me that it's "easier for her to manage" if we just exchange numbers. Low key, I felt like she was just throwing her number at me, so I would stop bothering her on the app and thinking I would not actually reach out to her. Of course, I reached out to her. At first, I could not gauge how "into it" she was. Whether she gave me her number out of glee or frustration... So I did what any normal, collected, not at all thirsty, typical man does and immediately set up a date to meet....It was fine because we had talked for a while on the app before so it was not extra thirsty or anything. Calm down. Our date was set for Saturday Night and I got there about 5-10 minutes early. She arrived late. I went to greet her at the door with a smile. She greeted me back with NO smile. She was straight business. We proceeded to sit down and have a conversation. I wanted to have a conversation, but this woman was interviewing me. She assessed my background, education, family, criminal history, moral code.... Barely any inflection of excitement in her voice. Piercing stare, monotone, arms folded. A normal man would have crumbled and inevitably succumbed to the torrent of poignant inquisition. But... you know, ya boy, is far too clever, too brave, to get shook. Of course, I answered her police interrogation with complete poise, calm and sufficiency. Never missed a beat. However, I was undoubtedly determined to break the obvious wall she had up. It took two hours... Now we were grooving. She finally opened up, there was a notable rise in her voice, tone and general demeanor. We had such a great time talking about anything, it was easy and generally phenomenal. I am blessed to have met this glorious woman that fateful day on January 31st.
