Four years ago, on a cold January day, Sid and Kanan swiped right on Coffee Meets Bagel. In typical, modern fashion, they struck up a friendly conversation with one another. It wasn't until the week they decided to meet that they realized their first challenge: distance. Even when he found out she was 2 hours away, he still agreed to meet, and the rest was history!
After about 2 1/2 years of dating, then spending most of Summer 2020 going back and forth between Boston and Southwick, it was time for... The Proposal :-) Spending time with Kanan and her family in western Massachusetts while working from home, Sid had the opportunity to explore the picturesque landscape that surrounds the area. After doing some intricate planning, he found the perfect spot to pop the question: Castle Craig. Keeping the planning a secret in a not super obvious way was tough, but became doable with the help of some of our closest friends. What was supposedly a simple day of hanging out with friends in Kanan's mind turned into the most memorable day when Sid popped the notorious question at the peak of Castle Craig on a warm, sunny August morning: "Will you marry me?" She interrupted mid-question, probably because of how hot it was, by saying, "-ok ok YES!"
After one week of celebrating with friends and family, the hard part of the relationship began as they were no longer together in Boston: long distance engagement. Sid moved back to Cleveland while Kanan moved back to Southwick, as both had an opportunity to work from home due to COVID. What began as a short-term arrangement until they got married turned into a real challenge. Long distance seemed easily manageable in the beginning, but started to take its toll the more they had to travel to visit each other for the next 2 years. Through all the ups and downs of being apart came two positive outcomes: a stronger bond with one another and, most importantly, the travel rewards points they accumulated from visiting each other!
Finally, after two years of having been engaged and having to postpone our wedding due to COVID, we are unbelievably excited to finally set a date for the best day of our lives! We decided to do a tented wedding and reception in the backyard of her home in Southwick, MA, where we can plan our special day exactly how we want it: a home filled with the most important people in our lives. As we continue to plan our special day and the next steps in our lives together, we cordially invite you to join in celebrating in our special day!
