Our first date was at a baseball game. Neither of us are really into baseball, so it made the perfect first date as neither of us were paying attention to anything other than each other. Before we knew it, we had been talking for 3 hours, and the game was over. People were leaving the stadium, the Braves celebratory music was blasting through the speakers, and we, of course, knew we really liked each other. What was supposed to be a brief baseball date turned into a whole day of events, and I ended up dragging Naveen to meet my best friends at an EDM concert I had planned to attend that evening. Since then, we have enjoyed countless dates at our go-to food spots in Atlanta (we are always looking for recs though), played hundreds of games of Catan, spent hours on the couch watching Sundhara Travels (we have attempted watching it at least 10 times and I have fallen asleep every time), met and bonded with each others’ friends over potlucks and games of beer pong, and- as cheesy as it sounds- fallen more in love with each other every day since that first date. And the rest is history… Or more specifically, the rest ultimately led to Naveen proposing to me in Highlands, North Carolina on a supposed “work trip” where, after I declared my peeling winter skin was not a problem and not worth me worrying because we were “just meeting his co-workers”, Naveen got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever while our friends and family were hiding out in a cabin right behind the vineyard where he proposed. Massive shout-out to our amazing photographer who edited out my nonstop tears and makeup that melted because of said tears that poured out after I gasped out “yes” on what, to date, has been the best and happiest day of my life. To those who got to the end of this story, I want to make it known that this is not just a brief summary of our love story, but a massive loving thank you to all our friends and family who have made this moment possible. Naveen’s friends have become my friends and mine have become his. I consider Collierville to be my home away from home, and his family to be my family. We both have so many family friends on each side who have molded us into the people we are today, and who have grown up with us. And we could not be more lucky to have you all celebrate with us, laugh with us, dance with us, and watch us grow old together. Love you all, Shweta
