Things To Do

We met in beautiful, sunny Durham while Shubhi did her Master’s and Andrew was a Lab Manager at Duke University. The Durham days were happy and filled with strolls through Sarah P. Duke Gardens, tons of fried chicken, and late-night runs to Cookout for milkshakes. Durham is where we got to know each other, and when we had to pick a wedding destination, it was at the top of our lists. We’re so excited to return here to celebrate with all of you. If you find yourself with extra time in the Durham area, here are some suggestions!

Sarah P. Duke Gardens

2000 Lewis Street, Durham, NC 27705

We used to walk here during our lunch hours. These gardens are heaven on Earth. Bonus: They're completely free!

Mateo Bar de Tapas

109 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701

One of Shubhi's favorite spots to force drag Andrew to.

Guglhupf Restaurant

2706 Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, Durham, NC 27707

We used to go here all the time for breakfast pastries

Dame's Chicken & Waffles

455 South Driver Street, Durham, NC 27703

Dame's is a great southern spot for all the Yankees.

Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken

401 Foster Street, Durham, NC 27701

Rise Biscuit is right next to the Durham Farmer's market and is great! One of Shubhi's all time favorite places. You may catch us here if you try it.

Saltbox Seafood Joint

2637 Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, Durham, NC 27707

Saltbox is a great place for seafood started by a former Michelin chef that is not "Michelin level spending". We do recommend not going at the end of their business hours, because they do run out sometimes.

Durham Bulls Athletic Park

409 Blackwell Street, Durham, NC 27701

The Durham Bulls baseball team has home games all week. The Bulls are the AAA minor afflilate of the Tampa Bay Rays, so besides seeing a great game, you may see some future big league stars!

Nasher Museum of Art

2001 Campus Drive, Durham, NC 27705

Duke has a small art museum on campus that is absolutely worth going to. Free admission!

Duke University Chapel

401 Chapel Drive, Durham, NC 27708

The chapel holds Christian worship services every Sunday at 11am and Choral services at 4pm each Sunday.

Lime & Lemon Indian Grill & Bar

811 9th Street, Durham, NC 27705

Lime & Lemon opened just as Shubhi left Durham. Andrew and Shubhi went so often that when they returned, over 4 years later, the waiters recognized them!

Eno River State Park

Durham, NC 27705

Eno River State Park is very close to Durham if you want to walk through some great Southeastern Pine and Oak forests! Umstead State Park is closer to Raleigh if you choose to stay near Raleigh

Museum of Life and Science

433 West Murray Avenue, Durham, NC 27704

Duke Lemur Center

3705 Erwin Road, Durham, NC 27705

Great fun! Duke has a world class research center for lemur conservation. If you schedule ahead, the tours are wonderful.
