Shruti & Bhavik met in the early morning on March 27th, 2022. Now when we say early...we’re not saying 7AM. They met at 3AM at Velvet Taco! Shruti was out with her friends and Bhavik was out as well! In the Uber home, Shruti randomly yelled “LET’S GET VELVET TACO!!” and the car turned around. Bhavik and his friends first stopped by Katz Deli next door. The line was waaaayy too long so he ended up at Velvet Taco. So here we are in this overpriced taco joint with spicy chicken tikka and fried paneer tacos at 3AM. You place your order at the counter and they call your name on the megaphone once its ready. Bhavik puts in his order under his last name “Patel”. “PATEL YOUR TACOS ARE READY” is blasted over the megaphone and Shruti sees Bhavik for the first time. Her first initial reaction…I’m gonna mess with this guy! She tells her friend Kaley to get up and ask Bhavik if he is Gujarati. Shruti knows he is but wants to see Bhavik’s reaction when Kaley asks. Kaley gets up to the counter as Bhavik is getting his food and asks “Are you Gujuuuraatii?!??”. Bhavik leans over and sees Shruti watching them. He says to Kaley “Are you asking for your friend over there??”. And the rest is history! They dated, laughed, and traveled. That first year included San Jose, Orlando, Vegas, LA, Philadelphia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
