Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Shriya Bakshi and Eric Wong
Welcome to Edinburgh! If you’re planning to stay a few extra days or just want to make the most of your time in the city, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite things to see and do. Whether you’re into history, stunning views, shopping, or just relaxing, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few ideas to help you explore this epic city!

Edinburgh Castle

Scotland EH1 2NG, United Kingdom

If you’re visiting Edinburgh for the first time, this is an absolute must-see. The castle sits atop an extinct volcano and offers both rich history and stunning views of the city. Don’t miss the One O'Clock Gun, a classic Edinburgh tradition! Fun fact - one of us has a tattoo of the Edinburgh Castle! Can you guess who?

Royal Mile

Scotland EH1 1QS, United Kingdom

The Royal Mile is the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, stretching from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Along the way, you’ll find historic sites, charming shops, and some great spots for a pint or a bite to eat.

Arthur's Seat

Scotland EH15 3PY, United Kingdom

If you're up for a bit of adventure, hike up Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano offering panoramic views of Edinburgh. It’s a moderate climb, but if you prefer a gentler route, there’s a lovely walk around the base too.

The Scotch Whisky Experience

354 Castlehill, Scotland EH1 2NE, United Kingdom

For whisky lovers or those simply curious about Scotland’s national drink (our favourite!), the Scotch Whisky Experience is a fun, informative stop. Learn about the history of whisky and taste a few varieties - you might just find your next favourite dram!

National Museum of Scotland

Chambers Street, Scotland EH1 1JF, United Kingdom

Explore Scotland’s fascinating history, culture, and science at this incredible museum. The rooftop terrace offers breathtaking views of the city, and the exhibits are full of interesting surprises.

Calton Hill

Scotland EH7 5BN, United Kingdom

Next stop, Calton Hill. You’ll find iconic monuments such as the National Monument and the Nelson Monument, plus some of the best views of Edinburgh, especially at sunset.

Explore Edinburgh's pubs and cafes

When it’s time to unwind, grab a drink at one of Edinburgh’s famous pubs, or pop into a cozy café for a coffee and cake. A great option close to the venue is The Devil’s Advocate (fun fact: we had our 2nd date here!) known for its impressive drinks menu and atmospheric setting.

The Real Mary King's Close

2 Warriston's Close, Scotland EH1 1PG, United Kingdom

A guided tour of the Real Mary King’s Close never disappoints- a hidden underground street that offers a glimpse into life in Edinburgh centuries ago. It’s a fascinating tour with a dash of mystery and intrigue!

Shopping on Princes Street

If you’re in the mood for shopping, Princes Street is Edinburgh’s main shopping destination. Whether you’re after high-street brands, Scottish souvenirs, or something special, you’ll find plenty to browse here.
