Picture this, New Year's Eve, and Sam joins her friend Whitney at a friend's house for a small get together, hanging out in the basement, and in walks in this tanned, handsome guy and the rest is history.

It's the day after Thanksgiving and here's the plan: Nate is going to drive back from Cincinnati and come spend time with Samantha and her family back in Cleveland. He calls Sam and says "Sara and I are on our way back. We're going to pick you up and go for a walk in the park by your sister's house." Sam hangs up, and after so many years of thinking it's going to happen, gets a weird feeling that THIS. IS. IT. because why would we randomly go walk in a park in the middle of winter in Cleveland? Sam doesn't say anything to her family, except her one sister who just so happened to be sitting next to her when the call took place. Frantically contemplating the time she had before they got there, does she change her clothes?! (Yes, she was in baggy sweatpants...) Does she put makeup on?! (Yes, a suggestion from her sister...) During this time, Sam decides to have a little bit of fun with Nate and question why they needed to go for this walk? He immediately has Sara handle this and she did a good job throwing Sam off guard by saying "Brad has never seen this park and I always have photoshoots here." Well, Nate arrives without Sara and they head off the park. Spotting Sara's car, Sam questions where Sara and Brad are and why they didn't wait for us to go for a walk since that was the entire point. Nate's hand is shaking, Sam jokes and says "Oh, are you cold? It's really not THAT cold out." and he beelines to a specific spot where, plot twist, another family is taking photos in the exact spot Nate wanted to go. Instead of walking more, we just wait, making it more and more obvious of what is about to happen, so Nate takes Sam to another section of the lake, says some very sweet things, and BAM - drops down to one knee and proposes. Thankful for Sara hiding in a bush to take photos of all of this because Sam and Nate both kind of blacked out during the entire thing but at least we now have these photos to look back at!
