Maid of Honor
Kara's favorite memory of her sister is when 3 year old Hailey asked her mom to make her a bride costume for Halloween. She loved it so much that she'd change into it every day after school. This lasted about 3 years - which is like 1,000 days in a row. By this time, the sleeves were up to her elbows, the hem to her knees, and the back stayed partly open since it wouldn't zip up all the way. The dress finally got tossed the year after, but Hailey has remained a true romantic. You can feel the love just standing next to her, which is why we are so excited to have her as the Maid of Honor. Thank you for being the best sister and soon-to-be sister-in-law there is!
Best Man
Stuart is Matt's older brother and an international man of mystery. What we do know about Stuart, however, is that he has a brilliant sense of humor, loves a good game night, and he made Kara immediately feel like part of the family. A long running joke, Matt has bought Stuart a t-shirt for every birthday and every Christmas for as far back as they can remember. Don't be surprised if a tuxedo t-shirt makes an appearance at some point!
Bridesmaid
Kara and Bethany met in 2011 while working together at a restaurant in Philadelphia. Bethany asked Kara on a "friend date", and ever since, they've been partners in crime, bonding over their shared love of exploring Philly, eating cheese, and drinking wine. After years of being each others confidantes, cheerleaders - and sometimes therapists - it's safe to say that Bethany knows Kara better than anyone. We love Bethany for her unwavering support and her gung-ho attitude - there will be no better person to help keep the party going!
Groomsman
Alan and Matt met in 2010 while singing in the university chorus together, where they both pretended to be able to sing bass. Eventually Alan left Glasgow to live in Edinburgh, but they have made a regular habit of visiting one another. Some of Matt's favorite memories with Alan are of Christmas spaghetti dinners with too much wine, and singing around the piano. Give him some wine and he might play a couple of tunes to sing along to at the wedding!
Officiant
Matt and Euan met in 2009 in Glasgow while starting their doctoral program. Hailing from Glasgow, Euan taught Matt how to speak Scottish and where to find the best whiskey. A true adventurer, Euan has dragged Matt along for miles-long hikes, kayaking, and even some daring jumps off waterfalls. He was able to marry his love for his work with his love for adventure and recently accepted a job in New Zealand - the adventure capital of the world. Now he's going to marry us! Generous through and through, Euan is willing to do anything for his friends - like fly 3000 miles to officiate our wedding. Make sure to have a wee dram with Euan - he's earned it.
