Question

Is transportation provided to those staying off-site?

Answer

Transportation will be provided on Friday to and from the Meadowmere. If you are staying at the Meadowmere or nearby and would like to use the shuttle, indicate this in your RSVP so we can ensure there is enough space. Check back here closer to the wedding for the full schedule.

Question

Is parking available at your venue?

Answer

Yes! Cliff House has ample, complimentary parking available for any guests who are staying at the hotel, or plan to drive themselves to and from the wedding.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00pm. We recommend arriving no later than 3:45pm to find your seat and take in the views. If you're anything like fashionably late Kristina, aim for 3:25pm. You’ll be glad for the extra time to snap a few photos! 😉

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids (!), but our wedding is an adult-only event. We want all of the parents to have the night off from the kiddos. If you're interested in babysitting services in the area, please reach out to us! The Cliff House and our wedding coordinator have provided us with options to share. Kids can attend the Welcome Drinks on Thursday night (7:30–10pm), but please, no kids on Friday, thank you!!!

Question

What is the attire for the welcome drinks on Thursday?

Answer

Welcome Drinks: Coastal casual attire Think breezy dresses and sandals, linen pants, like what you’d wear to a New England resort on a summer day. Dressy casual.

Question

What is the attire for the day of the wedding on Friday?

Answer

Wedding: Coastal formal attire Full-length dresses and suits with ties or bow ties are encouraged. Think festive and fitting for a special occasion by the ocean. Don't be afraid of color! As a frequent wedding guest myself, I always appreciate a little extra guidance, so feel free to reach out for inspo! We can’t wait to celebrate with you. We know you’ll look amazing.

Question

Will there be a send-off brunch on Saturday morning?

Answer

Yes, there is a farewell brunch in the Oceanview Terrace Salon (same space as Thursday's Welcome Drinks and Friday's Cocktail Hour). It’s mainly for guests staying at the Cliff House, but if you’re staying off-site and would like to join, we’d absolutely love to see you before you head home, just let us know so we can plan for food accordingly.

Question

What's the history of the Cliff House?

Answer

Kristina’s always been a fan of fun history facts. In case you are too, here’s a little bit about the Cliff House’s past. The Cliff House was established in 1872 by Elsie Jane Weare, a remarkable woman who purchased land atop Bald Head Cliff and turned it into a seaside resort. She ran the hotel and nearby farm, invested in real estate, raised seven children, and cared for her husband—all while managing the business. The original inn was built using lumber from her family’s sawmill in Ogunquit. The resort quickly became a summer destination for families from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and even Europe. At the time, rates were $6 per week, including three meals a day. Guests spent their days playing croquet, cards, and horseshoes, surrounded by wild roses, sweeping lawns, and panoramic ocean views. In the early 1900s, Elsie passed the Cliff House to her sons. Charles Weare led major updates, introducing indoor plumbing, electric lighting, and private baths—some of the first in the area. He added a bowling alley, an amateur theater, and even garages with a gas pump for early motorists. During World War II, the U.S. Army took over the property to build a radar station and monitor for German U-Boats, temporarily closing the resort and barring the Weare family from their land. After the war, the Cliff House reopened in 1948 as a grand resort following extensive repairs. Further transformations came in 2000 and again in 2016, each time expanding and modernizing the property while honoring its roots. Today, the Cliff House continues to welcome guests to this beautiful stretch of the Maine coast—over 150 years since it first opened its doors. If you have some free time while you're on the property, be sure to check out the history hallway in the event building. It's the hallway that connects the Nubbs Lobster Shack, Art Studio, and indoor pool area to the Ocean Terrace Salon Foyer. There are lots of neat historical photos and letters to check out!
