His Story

"A man that finds a wife, finds a good thing" - Proverbs 18:22

I woke up early one day and decided to do something that I rarely do - eat an early breakfast to begin my long day of classes. I hopped up out the dorm, and had my mind set on a made to order omelet with some biscuits and gravy! I made it to the cafeteria and set my belongings down on a table then I looked up. I looked up to my future wife at another booth completing homework quietly and not seeking any attention. I knew I had to think of something to tell her..."I'll ask her why is she here so early...nah to aggressive" I thought to myself. I remember asking God as I stood in line for some eggs, because the made to order omelets weren't being made at that time SMH, "What should I say to her...". He told me to stop playing and spit that New York game. So I walked up to her and asked her where she got her glasses from - even though I wasn't focused on her glasses. We carried on a good conversation, and I left her to her work hoping I would see my future wife again....on a campus of 15,000 students. After several tries trying to find her - God made a way. He gave me the vision to see her through a sea of thousands of students in the campus's basketball stadium for another morning gathering. Cleverly, I would time it just right seeing her walk up the stadium steps to accidentally "bump into her", and say "Hey Drew! crazy seeing you, let me walk you to class". Smooth right?? She was kind enough to walk with me, and as I walked her to class we spoke about music, where we were from, and if I was actually willing to walk her up four flights of steps to her class. During that walk, I thought to myself, "Enough of this inconsistent trash" and said, "Hey Trip Lee has a concert this week, are you going with anyone? Wanna join me?" ...That was the most important question I've asked her up until I asked her to be my wife. By God's grace, she answered yes to both.

Her Story

est. 2015

Honestly, I thought the Lord would rapture up the saints before I graduated high school, so I'm actually laughing out loud that I've made it to this milestone too. It all started in The Rot (one of the cafeterias at Liberty University). It was about 9:00 in the morning, and I was working on my homework while eating some breakfast after my 7:40 a.m. class. I actually made eye contact with Shomari as soon as he walked in, but I immediately looked away and said a prayer a little like this, "Lord, please don't let him come over here and talk to me. It's early in the morning, and I'm just trying to get my homework done." While I was saying this prayer, Shomari came and sat at a table very close to mine facing me. Eventually, Shomari ended up walking up to me and complimenting my glasses. I told him I got them from Walmart thinking that there was nothing special about my glasses. He sat down at my booth, and since he thought he could just invite himself to my table, I thought that I might as well capitalize by asking him for help with my Math homework. He couldn't help me, and that might be the only time in his life that he was unable to help me. After our conversation, he left, and I thought I would never seen him again. But again and again, I would see him around campus and have mini conversations until he asked me if I wanted to go to a concert with him. Trip Lee was our first concert together, and the rest, as they say, is history. I'm so grateful the Lord knew what I needed even when I was just a college student in my own world trying to get my homework done.
