If you want to come earlier that week we are hoping to go to Wimbledon either the Monday/Tuesday before the wedding. Tickets will have to be bought individually as they are strict with limit purchases and they can often be hard to get. You can queue up early in the morning for tickets or try the night before. (Wimbledon will also occur the week after the wedding if you wanted to go as well).
If you are flying into London, you can easily catch a bus or train to Leicester. The Leicester train station is a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel for the wedding night. Lots of ubers/taxis available too. There are lots of hotel options in Leicester city centre. The city centre is 10 minutes from my house.
Not really, unless you want to. Public transport is extensive in England and the train is your best bet. If you fly into London, you can get the train/tube/bus/uber into the city. From London, they have trains to Leicester which usually are between 52 mins - 1.5 hours. Buses also run from London airports to Leicester. The train station in Leicester is within walking distance to the venue/hotel where people can stay.
Leicester/London have plenty of shops if coming early. Note: however, most outfits may need to be tailored as they are semi-stitched. You can also look online for some options, just make sure to order it ahead of time in case it needs to be tailored. Here are a few options for websites: - Etsy - https://www.utsavfashion.com - https://www.manyavar.com - https://www.fabindia.com

Mehndi is decorating the skin (usually hands/feet) using henna paste with intricate designs. Mostly for women and this is temporary so it will come off within a few days. Usually the bride gets the grooms initials hidden in the design and the groom has to find them.
This ceremony involves the application of pithi on the face and body of the bride and groom. Pithi is applied in the form of a yellow paste (turmeric, oil and water). It is said that haldi or pithi is a soul and body cleanser meant to bless the couple. Usually to beautify (make the skin glow) of the bride and groom before the wedding. Family and friends can join in to cover the bride and groom in the yellow paste.
