For our Sikh Ceremony (morning ceremony) we request that you dress more modestly, preferably, in an outfit that will cover your legs. A head covering is also required. For ladies I would recommend a light scarf or a dupatta, for men the gurdwara will provide head coverings but if you would like to bring your own, a bandana works. Please do not wear any type of hat. I would also recommend wearing something you are comfortable sitting on the floor in. If you would like to wear Indian attire I have a more in depth FAQ below. For our Western Ceremony (second ceremony) The Dress Code is semi-formal. Suits and dresses are perfect – dress to impress but feel comfortable. Additionally, all guests are welcome to wear Indian attire if you so choose! Some great websites for Indian attire are listed below: - www.lashkaara.com - www.houseofindya.com - www.kalkifashion.com - www.mirraw.com - www.allborrow.com (this is a rental store) - Boomie (app for rentals)
Absolutely! For the Sikh Ceremony at the Gurdwara I would recommend ladies wear any type of Indian clothing that has pants, a modest top and a dupatta/chunni (scarf). These can be searched for online using the terms "Punjabi suit" or a "Sharara". Please do not wear a Lehenga to the Gurdwara. These outfits come with "dupattas" which will act act as your required head covering for women. For men I recommend wearing a kurta. Required Head coverings will be available for all at the Gurdwara but feel free to bring your own! A bandana works great! For the Western Ceremony, if any ladies want to wear Indian attire I would recommend wearing a lehenga or a sharara suit! Both are fun options to look fabulous!
