Oceano Dunes – One of the only places in California where you can drive and ride ATVs on the sand. Avila Beach – A quieter beach town with a walkable waterfront and oceanfront restaurants. Morro Bay – Known for Morro Rock, harbor views, kayaking, and frequent sea otter sightings. Bishop Peak – A short but challenging hike with sweeping views of San Luis Obispo and the surrounding hills. Highway 1 – If you’re driving from the Bay Area and have the time, the stretch between Monterey and SLO offers some of the best scenery in California.

Giuseppe’s Cucina Italiana – A downtown staple known for Italian dishes and a lively atmosphere. Novo – A creekside restaurant in downtown SLO and the spot where we had our first date. Madonna Inn Copper Café – A San Luis Obispo landmark known for breakfast, baked goods, and its iconic setting.
Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market – Held Thursday evenings on Higuera Street with food vendors, local produce, and live music. San Luis Ranch Market – A newer open-air market with restaurants, shops, and outdoor seating. San Luis Obispo Public Market – An indoor food hall with a variety of local dining options. Avila Valley Barn – A favorite local stop for fresh pies, produce, and farm animals.
Edna Valley – Located just minutes from San Luis Obispo, with wineries such as Baileyana, Biddle Ranch, and Tolosa. Paso Robles – A larger wine region north of SLO with wineries including DAOU, Parrish Family Vineyard, and Tablas Creek.
