Well to understand that we have to go way back on the night of March 27th, 2005 at 13 year old Jen had found one of those few great loves a girl can have, as this was the debut of the hit Prime Time Television show Grey’s Anatomy. A lot of young ladies dreamed the life of Meredith Grey, a surgical resident living in a big old house in Seattle with her best friends and occasionally McDreamy, her hottie surgical attending boyfriend and later husband. Jen however envied her for other reasons, see Jen loved the idea of wearing clothing akin to pajamas to work everyday. Over the next 10 years Jen tried a few different career paths before becoming a medical assistant, which was when she began living her best ‘Mer’ life wearing her scrubs and crocs to work every day! At this point in life however Jen met her next one true love, Sheba Marie. Now the jammies at work were clutch, however the budget did not support the desired home life that Jen wanted to provide for favorite puppers. And before she knew it she was back in school to begin a career in nursing. While in nursing school Jen was working a job with Jefferson NJ in the ER on the Night Shift. She wasn’t Merideth Grey, but she was Jen Shirk, PCT. Thanks to her seasoned experience in watching the inner workings of a hospital, in 2018 she walked into ER prepared for almost anything. She knew exactly what to do incase she had to hold an ammunition shell that could explode at any moment perfectly still inside a patient's abdomen, and how to get your patient to the top of the donation list by cutting the wires on their LVAD, or what to do if your patient comes to the ED after a fish followed his urine stream and swam into… well you know where. Obviously Jen was prepared for any patient situation, however what she was not prepared for were the 2 things that happened next. 1 she was prepared to meet some friends, but she was not prepared to meet such good friends that she would plan a 14 day excursion with her new bestie. And 2 she was definitely not prepared for the world to shut down due to a global pandemic and be forced to cancel said trip. In a pandemic, in nursing school and mourning the loss of paid in full Italy trip that was reimbursed with airline miles Jen grew closer than ever to her fellow healthcare workers. Specifically that one friend, you know the one who was supposed to join her in Italy (not you, Dan). Much like Merideth, she had found her McDreamy. Now back in 2005 Jen’s McDreamy went by Frankie and he was the heartbreaker of the 4th grade at the Holly Glen Elementary with his baby blues. He loved superheroes and power rangers but by this point in life Frankie also found a special first love in life, baseball. Game days were spent with the fam watching the Fightin Phils became his thing. Frankie had a magic about him, he enjoyed reading Harry Potter and watching Marvel movies. One thing that had been true about Frankie even then was that emergency healthcare was in his DNA, born the son of an ER nurse and Paramedic helping people was in his blood. By sophomore year Frankie was riding in the ambulances and by 2013 he had plans to complete a nursing degree at Stockton. Beginning his career as a ER nurse Frankie was navigating his adult life well. Moving in his own place and adopting his anxious little puppy Luna. By April of 2021 McDreamy was dead and Mer was in a COVID coma, however Jen and Frankie had made it official. They began dating, they were socially distancing from the rest of the world but hanging together was their favorite. Sheba and Luna, even had added a new girl to the mix by adopting the wild and crazy Kayla. Frankie and Jen’s life together grew more. By 2023 Frankie and Jen were looking for a house, they found the perfect forever home in Williamstown however settlement was delayed. By May of 2024 they were both ready to settle down in their new home and on the day they finally closed. Frankie surprised Jen and finally asked “Will you marry me?”
