Like most cool cats these days, we met via a dating app. I tell Ben that what I liked was his smile, his cute dog and the tagline that read, "Looking for my emergency contact." Seemed like a good sign! We had our first date at a coffee shop and Ben will tell you that I was half an hour late (I will forever argue that it was only 15 minutes!) That first year, we got to know each other during long walks with Cody the dog through Discovery Park, date nights at my favorite haunts around Belltown, as well as dinners and wine tasting with my parents and our friends. And when he had a medical emergency related to golf (muahaha) we quite literally had made the leap to becoming each other's emergency contacts. Since then, we've encouraged and talked each other through job changes. We found the house in Seward Park and have rearranged the living room furniture a million times. We went through the heartbreak of losing Cody then the craziness of adopting our rescue puppy Frankie -- along with countless other ups and downs that happen in life. We also traveled near and far, falling in love with France, not falling in love with Vietnam, and will always treasure sunny vacations spots like Mexico and Hawaii. The best times, though, are when we're drinking good wine with the people we love and reeeelaaaxxxinggg in new places and old! We say that our favorite things about each other, besides being drop dead sexy, is our sense of humor and the goofy, relaxed way we are with one another. As Leslie Knope from Parks & Rec always said to her Ben, "I like you and I love you." Can't wait to be your emergency contact for life. xoxo Shireen
