Things To Do

South Norwalk

South Norwalk is a walkable area with bars and restaurants, as well as the Maritime Aquarium. The SoNo Collection mall and the South Norwalk train station are nearby. The wedding events will be taking place in this general area. The Residence Inn is in South Norwalk and the other hotels (Courtyard and Watershed) are about a 10-minute drive away. Ubers are available. A popular brunch option is Caffe Social - we suggest their fun latte flavors!

Beaches

Connecticut has a number of beaches on the Long Island Sound, including Calf Pasture Beach, where we are getting married. Note that some of these beaches have high parking fees "in-season" for non-residents, but the "season" varies from beach to beach - you may want to Uber or look into the fees in advance. Calf Pasture and Compo Beach (both closer to Norwalk) appear to still be charging parking fees in late September. If you go to Luca's Beach Kitchen on Calf Pasture, you should be able to grab a casual bite near the beach with free parking. Bayley Beach in Rowayton (a scenic area of Norwalk) and Jennings Beach and Penfield Beach in Fairfield (about 20 minutes from Norwalk) should have free parking as of our wedding weekend. If you want to get out on the water, you may consider kayaking (check out Norwalk Sailing School in Norwalk or Sea Kayak Connecticut in Westport). You can book rentals in advance.

Dining/Drinks on the Water

There are a number of places to grab a bite with a gorgeous view. Casual: On Calf Pasture Beach, check out the Galley and Luca's Beach Kitchen for a casual bite (you should be able to get free parking if you are going to a restaurant). For a sit-down meal or drinks, check out Sunset Grille (right next to our venue). Upscale: If you're looking for upscale waterside dining, check out Rowayton Seafood for lunch or dinner. Reservations book up in advance. Ice cream: Mr. Frosty's is a popular local ice cream shop on the water.

Westport (and Nearby Towns)

Downtown Westport is a cute town with shops and restaurants. Westport is a quick Uber or drive from Norwalk. Greenwich, CT is a bit farther but also has a nice shopping and food scene.

New York City

New York City is an easy commute from Norwalk, especially on the Metro-North train. The train takes a little over an hour from South Norwalk to Grand Central Station in Manhattan. This would be a great day trip or add-on trip before or after the wedding. You can use the TrainTime app or https://www.mta.info/schedules to plan your train route.

Breweries

Connecticut has an active brewery scene. Check out Spacecat in Norwalk or venture out to Two Roads (Joe's favorite) or Nod Hill in Ridgefield.

Stew Leonard's

100 Westport Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851

This is a grocery store and an activity all in one. They are known for their soft-serve ice cream and animatronics.

Norwalk Boat Show

The Norwalk Boat Show will take place from Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27. Admission is $20 for adults. Free parking is available.
