There is a shuttle system that will allow you to access the town of Springdale, as well as many parts of Zion National Park that are ONLY accessible by the shuttle. The listed stop is the stop right outside of the Hampton and SpringHill Suites. To access the National Park Shuttle, you need to take the Town Shuttle to the Park Visitor Center, and then transfer to the park shuttle there.
Angel's Landing is the quintessential Zion hike. Unfortunately (and fortunately, in some ways), the National Park Service now requires permits. There are two options for permitting, both on https://www.recreation.gov/: Submit for the seasonal lottery, which is open for submission April 1st through April 20th. Results will be released on April 24th. Submit for the daily lottery - submit the day before you wish to hike. Note, submitting to the lottery is $6 per submission and each permit can hold 6 people. If given a permit, you will be charged $3 per person on the permit. Keep in mind that this is a strenuous hike, and it will be hot (and summertime) - so attempt to your own comfort level.
The Narrows is a challenging but rewarding hike through a remarkably chilly river in a towering slot canyon. Ask Mr. Shifrin for the weather forecast before you go in case of flash floods (my guy will have watched The Weather Channel in advance, I promise you). This hike is a great way to cool off on a hot day, and also a great way to become damp.
Canyon Overlook is a rocky, dusty, but generally very easy hike to an excellent view, and the only place where you can view the newly opened Megan's Hand Bones Memorial Monument. Journey through the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel, a stunning feat of engineering, and park in the small parking lot across from the trailhead, or on the street. NOTE: This is the only hike that you can drive to yourself; the others are accessible by shuttle, only.
Our favorite coffee shop in Zion (they also have pretty good breakfast!). Try one of their seasonal lattes and be amazed. Also a great place to work (free Wi-fi) if, like us, you also have a hard time setting boundaries and do work on vacation.
This is where the wedding will be, but we like it so much we're suggesting it, again! Highly, highly recommend the chile verde pot pie (be warned: it can be spicy). We also had our 3rd date here (doesn't everyone cross state lines on a 3rd date?!?!).
Mr. and Mrs. Shifrin enjoy this spot (get it, hehe) - I think it is good for breakfast, perhaps. You can also badger Cousin Josh's family at the attached inn.
